• Ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of electrical distribution systems.
• An ideal non-contact inspection technique.
No shutdown required.
• Impact to facility operations is little to none.
Proactively identify potential problems.
Detect loose or deteriorated connections.
Detect overloaded circuits and defective equipment.
Reduce the occurrence and impact of equipment failure.
Reduce time period required for maintenance shutdowns.
Confirm the effectiveness of a repair.

Custom Power Pty Ltd is focused on providing specialist electrical services to ensure the safety, reliability and longevity of electrical distribution systems through the implementation of routine testing, maintenance, auditing and rectification practices. In order to proactively identify potential problems within main electrical distribution and control equipment, we advocate development of a thermography program as an ideal non-contact inspection technique.

A thermography program involves the implementation of periodic inspections of equipment such as Main Switchboards, Distribution Boards, Motor Control Centres, Control Panels and Power Factor Correction units. The frequency of conducting thermographic scanning is mainly dependant on the critical nature of electrical supply to the premises, the age and condition of the installed electrical equipment and the environment to which it is exposed to. As a minimum guide it is recommended to occur annually, performed best at times of maximum electrical load.

Custom Power employs personnel for thermography who are licensed electricians properly trained as Level 1 certified thermographers by the Infraspection Institute, an organization which is recognised world-wide.

The method for thermographic scanning involves capturing thermal patterns on a high resolution infrared thermal imaging camera and identifying if any exceptions (potential problems) exist as a preventative and predictive maintenance measure intended to allow for action to be taken prior to failure. Without thermal imaging potential problems often remain undetected and unseen. Many electrical defects are accompanied by a change in operating temperature prior to failure.

Reducing the occurrence of equipment failure is the proven advantage of adopting a thermography program. Catastrophic failure can cause an extended period of downtime leading to lost productivity whilst repair work is conducted. Lost time may also occur whilst damaged equipment is sourced and replaced.

Along with the possibility of suffering lost time and lost money caused by a failure, electrical faults can often lead to fire, explosions and unsafe conditions.

Thermographic scanning can help in improving the effectiveness of maintenance shutdowns. A scan can be conducted prior to a shutdown and resources then directed to where potential problems have been identified. A follow-up scan can indicate the effectiveness of a repair.

There is no longer a need to second guess the condition of your electrical distribution system, with Custom Power’s combined 35 year experience in this field we can help you project a positive image for your facility.
